I feel it helps to have both of them broken in with lots of good playback/burn-in time through them as well. People claim they hear bigger sound stages and other various things. If you put a high end DAC right beside a low cost one, you most likely will be able to tell some differences. In terms of my experiences with DIRAC and DAC's. I just haven't ever put it through my DAW (yet). I am very familiar with DIRAC as I have run it for many years and was on the Beta team for it. I was thinking to use it on the headphone monitor port and my final main output. I am really curious how people are using this and the effectiveness since I am in a less than ideal home these days and don't have an isolated recording studio with room physical room corrections and will have to rely on software. With DIRAC activated, I can barely tell the difference between a few hundred/thousand dollar DAC and one that's 25,000 to 30,000 dollars. That's been my experience in my custom home theater and have demoed some of the most expensive DAC's in the world.
I know for me, the experience I have had with the software is when it's setup properly it really starts to get extremely difficult to hear the difference between DAC's. I am curious how you all are using it.Īre you putting it as an insert on your final DAW main output? How does it affect your mixing ability? Has it improved your final mixes or made them worse? I have owned it for many years in my home theater and own a second license I can use on my DAW.
